REMEDIAL TUTORING
Following an assessment at the Literacy and Learning Centre, it may be recommended that your child would benefit from remedial tutoring. An assessment forms an essential part of referral to our specialised remedial tutoring programme because it identifies your child’s particular areas of strength and difficulty. This means that programmes can be individualised and targeted at addressing your child’s particular areas of need.
Our friendly teachers all have experience and / or qualifications in Special Education. They are able to create individual programmes using evidence based principles specifically tailored for your child. We use a multi-sensory approach to tutoring following best practices in literacy and numeracy instruction
Tutoring programmes are conducted on a one-to-one basis. Your child is able to work at his or her own pace to develop the skills needed to improve learning.
Teachers may also able to provide outreach programming for children who are not able to attend the Centre for tutoring.
Assessment results provide detailed information and recommendations that can be utilised by your child’s school or tutor.
All tutors at the Literacy and Learning Centre have completed the mandatory Working with Children checks.
